How would you describe the symbol of the river for Heart of Darkness? I think it would be similar to Apocalypse Now, saying is represents the transformation of characters leaving civilization. As Mr. Daley said, Willard is shown primitive when in Cambodia however he left first as a man, a soldier. My thought for Heart of Darkness river is it is the passage to Africa and leave behind all other knowledge. Hence going into darkness?
